• Joining and leaving motorways safely
• Slip roads and acceleration lanes
• Lane discipline and overtaking
• Reading overhead signage and lane markings
• Maintaining safe following distances at speed
• Managing nerves on faster roads
• Sat-nav use on motorway journeys

A1(M) motorway routes such as Scotch Corner or Wetherby services, with a planned stop before returning.

City & Complex Road Driving
Ideal for drivers who feel nervous or overwhelmed in busy towns and cities.
City driving can feel very different to the roads used during lessons and tests. This course is designed to build confidence when dealing with heavier traffic, complex layouts, and quicker decision-making.

• City driving strategy and planning
• Multi-lane roundabouts and junctions
• Bus lanes, road markings, and restrictions
• Lane signage and early positioning
• One-way systems
• Heavy traffic and stop-start conditions
• Sat-nav driving in busy areas
• Building calm, confident decision-making

Newcastle, Carlisle, or similar urban areas.

This session is about building real-world confidence by driving longer routes that include a mix of road types and unfamiliar areas. It’s ideal for drivers who want to feel comfortable travelling further afield independently.
Regular breaks and relaxed discussion are built in to keep the experience calm and pressure-free.
What we cover
• Planning longer journeys
• Motorway, A-road, and rural driving
• Country roads and unfamiliar routes
• Coastal, countryside, or border routes
• Sat-nav use and adapting to new environments
• Managing fatigue and concentration
• Real-world decision-making and independence

Examples include Scottish Borders, coastal routes, Lake District areas, or similar varied journeys.
